The Ivan factor

~20Years
off-road

Your guide into the desert.

Ivan Robles first went into the desert as a kid, with his father. What stayed with him wasn't the vehicle — it was being surrounded by mountains, far from everyone, free. Groups, tours, Baja racing, and years off-road in Tecate and Ensenada later, he built HDE to share that feeling.

Another company can buy vehicles. Experience has to be earned.
Guest awareness

Safety judgment

Safety & trust

Adrenaline never overrides safety.

Adventure with judgment. HDE sells controlled adventure — never recklessness.

The order of priorities — set by Ivan
  1. Guest safety
  2. The experience you want
  3. Memories for life
Before every tour

40-PT

Vehicle inspection — oils, belts, ball joints and other critical components, with equipment and backups carried for potential issues.

On every expedition
  • Ivan controls the vehicle.
  • No previous off-road experience required.
  • A safety introduction to the vehicle and its equipment before you ride.
  • Intensity rises only when conditions and your comfort allow.

Why Jacumba·32.62° N · 116.19° W

Jacumba is where the adventure begins.

Ivan chose Jacumba for its access to dramatically different landscapes — mountains and rock formations giving way to desert and sand. It hasn't been overwhelmed by off-road traffic, so the isolation you feel out there is real. And you don't have to drive for hours to find something extraordinary.

Adventure is closer than you think.

Before you ride

Questions?
We’ve got you.

Everything you need to know before heading into the high desert.

Not at all. Never been off-road? Perfect. We’ll take care of the driving. You don’t need your own vehicle, driving experience, or knowledge of the trails. Just come ready to experience the desert.

No. Your expedition includes an experienced driver, so you can focus on the adventure, the landscape, and the experience without having to operate the vehicle yourself.

Each RZR accommodates up to 3 guests. Pricing is per RZR, not per person, keeping each expedition small and personal.

Desert by Day is $375 per RZR for a 2-hour expedition.

Sunset Ride is $475 per RZR for a 3-hour expedition.

Each RZR accommodates up to 3 guests.

Desert by Day gives you two hours of off-road exploration, open landscapes, and the desert in full daylight.

Sunset Ride gives you three hours and adds something completely different: changing desert light, sunset, and the transition into the nighttime desert.

Both experiences offer a choice between Pandora Trail and Cathedral of Stone.

Pandora combines off-road exploration and desert landscapes, while Cathedral of Stone centers around distinctive rock formations and surrounding desert terrain.

Yes. HDE is built around a private, small-group experience. With up to three guests per RZR, the expedition stays personal rather than feeling like a large commercial tour.

Absolutely. Your experience. Your pace.

Your expedition can adapt around what you enjoy — from adrenaline and music to photography, hiking, nature, stops, or simply slowing down and taking in the desert.

Tell us what you’re looking for.

HDE can move between excitement and quieter moments during the same expedition. Intensity can be adjusted based on the group, terrain, conditions, and safety.

Safety comes first.

Before every expedition, guests are introduced to the vehicle and relevant safety equipment. HDE also performs a 40-point vehicle inspection before each tour, covering critical mechanical components and carrying equipment and backups for potential issues.

Adrenaline never overrides safety.

Ivan is HDE’s founder and lead guide, bringing approximately 20 years of off-road experience, including groups, tours, Baja racing, and off-roading in Tecate and Ensenada.

His role goes beyond driving. He reads the group and adjusts the pace, intensity, stops, and overall experience while keeping safety first.

No.

More than an off-road ride. It’s a desert experience.

HDE combines off-road adventure, nature, exploration, local knowledge, and a personalized experience through the landscapes of Jacumba.

HDE operates in Jacumba, California — an area of mountains, desert, rock formations, changing elevations, and varied terrain.

It’s a place where you can disconnect from the city and experience the high desert in a completely different way.

Not at all.

HDE is designed around curiosity, not a particular type of person. Guests may come for adventure, nature, photography, exploration, relaxation, memorable moments, or simply time away from the city.

Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing you don’t mind getting a little dusty. Closed-toe shoes are required for safety.

In warmer months, bring lightweight breathable clothing, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Cooler mornings and evenings may call for a light jacket or layers. Avoid loose accessories and secure anything you bring.

Yes — small personal items are welcome, but keep it minimal. Secure storage is limited, so avoid loose or valuable items that could be affected by dust or movement during the ride.

All expeditions take place in the Jacumba area. After booking, you’ll receive a confirmation with the exact meeting location and directions for a smooth arrival.

Plan to arrive 10–15 minutes before your scheduled time for check-in, waiver confirmation, and a brief safety overview.

Expeditions depart promptly. Late arrivals may result in a shortened ride, as other guests are often scheduled after you.

Cancellations or reschedules are allowed up to two weeks before your booking. Within two weeks of your scheduled expedition, bookings are non-refundable.

Expeditions run in typical high desert conditions, which may include wind, dust, heat, cold temperatures, and variable terrain. By booking, guests acknowledge and accept these natural conditions.

For safety, HDE reserves the right to reschedule in the event of unsafe conditions — including extreme heat, high winds, lightning, storm activity, flash flood risk, or unsafe trail conditions. Rescheduled expeditions move to a new date at no additional cost.

Refunds are not issued due to weather, as conditions are outside our control, but a reschedule option is always provided. Normal desert conditions such as light wind, dust, typical seasonal temperatures, or light precipitation do not qualify for cancellation.

This policy is included in the waiver signed at the time of booking.
